I am the politics and state government reporter for the Bismarck Tribune, the paper of record for North Dakota.

I began my journalism career as a freelance reporter covering nonprofit work on the ground in Ukraine in 2023. Since then, I have worked in communications for a community action agency in rural Northern California and spent a brief stint as a county government and courts reporter with the Bonner County Daily Bee in North Idaho before being recruited by the Tribune in fall 2024.

During the state’s four-month biennial legislative session in 2025, I learned and reported on new topics nearly every day. I broke down complex fiscal policy, including a landmark property tax relief and reform package, and chronicled a prolonged fight over competing school voucher proposals that lasted nearly the entire session. On the social policy side, I covered efforts by Christian nationalist groups to require the Ten Commandments in every classroom in the state.
